Chicago Flower Show 2018: Designer Spotlight
“FLOWERTALES: Every Garden Has a Story to Tell,” features 20+ gardens interpreting the unique role flowers and plants play in the stories of our lives and literature. The show runs from Wednesday, March 14 through Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Navy Pier in Chicago.
Tuesday night is the special charity preview, Evening in Bloom. This exciting fashion show features flowers on the runway and tons of tasty treats. We got an insider peek from one of the show’s designers, Debi
Lilly, owner of
“We live for flowers – and happy, colorful, spring flower shows,” says Debi. “Each year we wait with great anticipation for the new Chicago Flower Show theme (and Philly Flower Show, and Chelsea Flower Show…) so we can begin designing the new look. This year, for 2018’s FlowerTales, we have created a magical, modern Alice in Wonderland world filled with whimsy and romance.”
And when it comes to inspiration, where do the designers look?
“We research the January Fashion Week catwalks from Paris to London to Milan, visit Paris for Maison Objet and Paris Deco Off design weeks for hands on, in depth design trend sourcing, and pow wow as a trend team inside A Perfect Event.”
“Fun fact: we style the entire table inside our studio, to ensure every detail is perfect, before packing it up and trucking it down to Navy Pier.”
